The Charlottesville City Attorney's Office is seeking candidates to be considered for the position of Deputy City Attorney.



The Deputy City Attorney professionally and responsibly renders legal services, counsel, representation, and regular guidance to an assigned portfolio of City agencies, departments, boards, and/or commissions. Provides legal advice on matters related to land use, real estate, transactional work, procurement, public works, utilities, and general municipal law. Prepares legal documents and represents the City in civil litigation. Works under the general direction of the City Attorney and collaborates with other attorneys in the City Attorney’s Office to support the City’s legal needs.

Mayo Law Group, a boutique firm representing defamation plaintiffs and serving as fractional general counsel to growth businesses, seeks a full-time associate attorney for complex litigation in state and federal courts across the country. Responsibilities include drafting motions and briefs, managing discovery, preparing witnesses, taking depositions, arguing hearings, and contributing to trial strategy from case inception through verdict. Attorneys looking to build trial skills can do so here; those with different strengths can also contribute through exemplary research, briefing, and litigation management. The right candidate writes well, speaks well, and means well. Virginia Bar admission required; periodic overnight travel (4-6 times per year). Compensation includes base salary plus performance-based bonuses, health/vision/dental, 401(k) matching, uncapped flexible PTO, and meals during the workday. Hybrid remote/in-office model.

Assistant Attorney General – Child Support Enforcement (Charlottesville)
The Virginia Office of the Attorney General seeks an Assistant Attorney General to represent the Division of Child Support Enforcement in establishing and enforcing child support obligations across multiple jurisdictions. This role includes litigation in state and federal courts, advising agency staff, and managing a high-volume caseload. Candidates must be admitted to the Virginia Bar and possess strong litigation and organizational skills.
