Charlottesville seeks Assistant City Attorney

The City of Charlottesville, Virginia seeks an Assistant City Attorney

Responsibilities will include representation of the City in state court proceedings and providing advice in procurement and contract matters, with significant responsibility for Social Services cases and litigation in J&DR court. The Position will involve representation of other City departments as assigned. Minimum qualifications include graduation from an accredited law school, eligibility to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia, considerable experience in the practice of law and must be admitted to practice before the Virginia Supreme Court or be able to obtain admission. Past juvenile court experience and local government experience are desirable. The Charlottesville City Attorney’s Office affords the opportunity for significant, independent, professional responsibility on challenging issues under the general supervision of the City Attorney. The successful applicant must demonstrate a broad range of experience and knowledge of Virginia law.
